About Your Horse Nanny....

(above... me with my beloved Beck (6/4/96 - 6/8/07)... RIP good buddy. Miss you.)

Owner.... Stacey Voigt.

I've been around horses almost my entire life, ever since our next-door neighbor let me sit on her mare when I was only two years old. A lifelong love affair with all things equine began then, and has shaped my life since. In my childhood and teens, I rode hunter/jumper and eventing with several local trainers.

I've also been a huge animal lover practically since birth, and grew up surrounded by pets - always at least a cat and a dog, often rabbits, guinea pigs, and parrots as well. While in high school I worked for a local small animal vet, and focused my efforts on eventually being a vet myself.

I attended UC Davis, taking many undergraduate courses in Animal Science including Horse Husbandry, and completed two seasons of Foalwatch internships at the UCD Center for Equine Research. At one point I even thought about a career as an equine vet! However, life instead took me away from horses for several years, during which time I had a brief, stressful career in the mortgage industry, got married, and had a daughter. Now I'm lucky enough to be back doing what I love most - being around horses all day!

My current areas of equine interest include natural horsemanship, working with young horses, and learning as much as I possibly can about every aspect of horse care and training. In the past few years I've been fortunate enough to have several backyard chickens. I also have one dog, one cat, and the above-mentioned daughter, who's always bringing bugs home.

So far my local clients have been very receptive and I can't thank them enough for helping me start this, my dream business. Thanks especially to one of my more unusual clients, who has introduced me to the fascinating world of dairy goats... I think you've created a monster!

Future plans: Grow the business a little more, find the perfect trail horse and start doing Competitive Trail Riding, travel to Ireland in June of '08 with the SBCC Concert Choir (did I mention I do that too?)
